Kensington-Based Interior Design Firm Reimagines Couple’s Center City Townhouse

With the help of Kensington-based interior design firm Marguerite Rodgers, international influencers reshaped this Center City townhouse into a stylish urban sanctuary.

With the help of Kensington-based interior design firm Marguerite Rodgers, international influencers have reshaped a Center City townhouse into a stylish urban sanctuary, writes Kristin Detterline for Philadelphia Magazine.

The couple embraced simplicity in their full renovation of the Philadelphia property, carefully attending to every detail.

“We used pocket doors throughout the home because there was no space for swinging doors, which created a very comfortable flow,” said Meg Rodgers of Marguerite Rodgers.

The home’s design combines Belgian minimalism and Japanese touches, with uniformity evident in every wall, all coated with a neutral matte plaster that goes from floor to ceiling.

“This is a fresh project in the sense that it’s a different look with a more economical use of space, with a much more human scale,” said contractor Dixon Shay. “It’s easy to connect with the property that way.”

The kitchen showcases a Roman Thomas dining table with Picchios’s benches, which also function as a desk. In the living room, Tibetan artist Gonkar Gyatso’s Buddha artwork and a movable mirror from Holzman Iron Studio work help bring art and light together.

Meanwhile, restored antique Japanese doors fabricated by Philadelphia’s Staack Moore Woodworking are now an art piece that helps cover electrical panels.
