Invent Penn State LaunchBoxes at Brandywine and Great Valley and the Ideas x Innovation Network (i2n) are partnering to deliver the 2025 LionCage Pitch Competition on Friday, Nov. 14, from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley.
LionCage is a one-day gathering that offers exposure, connections, and access for creators and innovators who are transforming their industries and our society. The pitch competition showcases entrepreneurs and innovators from across southeastern Pennsylvania and awards a total of $35,000 among several categories, including a “Best of Show” as selected by a panel of judges.
“LionCage is a natural and dynamic extension of the work we deliver at i2n, helping startups and entrepreneurs to transform their ideas from concept to commercialization,” said Matt Cabrey, Director of i2n. “The benefits of LionCage go well beyond the financial awards, offering exposure and connections to a network of supporters across our six-county innovation ecosystem.”
Applications to present at LionCage 2025 are now open, and the deadline to apply is Wednesday, Oct. 29.
“Helping startups across Pennsylvania’s communities is exactly what Invent Penn State LaunchBoxes do every day, and we are excited to develop and deliver LionCage to support entrepreneurs while providing resources to current and aspiring businesses in our local neighborhoods,” said Tony Mattei, Director of Entrepreneurship at the Penn State Brandywine LaunchBox.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural LionCage, this year’s event is the culmination of a series of six smaller pitch competitions – The Road to LionCage. The winner from each of these pitch sessions earned an automatic entry into the main event.
This year’s LionCage event is made possible in part thanks to support from Chester County United Way, Layer 8 Security, TD Bank, MVM Associates, Fox Rothschild, OneDigital, Freckled Strawberry, Epic Foods, Vanguard, and Kauders Foundation. LionCage 2025 is proud to have the support of the following partners: Greencastle Consulting, Downingtown STEM Academy, The Discovery Labs, Comcast Universal LIFT Labs, Wistar Institute, Montgomery County Commerce Department, Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, and Bucks County Department of Workforce and Economic Development.
