How 24,000 Guy Fieri’s Tequila Bottles Got Stolen in Elaborate Heist Before Reaching Lansdale

Around 24,000 bottles of Santo Tequila, a drink by Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar, set to launch last year, were stolen before reaching Lansdale.

Around 24,000 bottles of Santo Tequila, a special drink by Guy Fieri and his partner, Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar that was set to launch last year, were stolen before reaching the Lansdale warehouse in an elaborate heist, writes Miguel A. Melendez for Men’s Journal.

The operation was orchestrated in Armenia, revealed Fieri during his 60 Minutes interview.

“Here’s what happened: the logistics company that worked for Santo hired a trucking company to move the tequila from Texas to Pennsylvania,” reported 60 Minutes. “But then, that trucking company outsourced the job to two other trucking companies, who then hired drivers. The problem is those second trucking companies were fake – with phony letterheads, email addresses, and phone numbers to appear legitimate.”

The two truckloads of tequila were the entire inventory of the drink, which caused a domino effect, including many people losing their jobs.

One of the trucks was located several weeks later in Los Angeles, still containing 11,000 bottles. While Fieri said he was not certain what condition they would be in, all of the bottles were undamaged and placed in stores to be sold.
