Tanya Morris, the founder of Philadelphia-based entrepreneur resource organization Mom Your Business, has launched a new program designed to help uplift fellow Black women entrepreneurs, writes Sarah Huffman for Technical.ly.
In partnership with Baltimore-based EcoMap Technologies, Mom Your Business has launched Foundery PHL. The new platform offers business owners a learning guide filled with access to resources aimed to help them grow their business.
It also provides founders a new way to support each other, obtain funding, and learn more about local events for entrepreneurs.
“Women don’t need more talent … or ideas,” Morris said. “What we need is more access and opportunities and the Foundery does just that.”
The platform lists The Enterprise Center, Philly Startup Leaders, and the Women’s Opportunities Resource Center as among the organizations that specifically aim to support entrepreneurs and provide business and financial resources for women, respectively.
Morris noted that access to capital is one of the biggest barriers for early founders, especially among Black women.
According to a 2023 report from GoDaddy, Black women entrepreneurs are the fastest-growing group of founders in the United States. However, funding has been inconsistent year to year.
Foundery PHL is another pathway to help underrepresented founders gain that access to funding and other resources.
