How Wynnewood’s Jeffrey Lurie Turned the Eagles into Football’s Gold Standard

Wynnewood’s Jeffrey Lurie has built the Eagles into the NFL’s model franchise, with two Super Bowls and a roster built to last.

For 31 years, Wynnewood native Jeffrey Lurie has built the Philadelphia Eagles into an NFL powerhouse, writes Marcus Hayes for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Entering the 2025 season as defending Super Bowl Champions, the Birds have won two Lombardi Trophies in seven years, reached two of the last three title games, and remain favorites to win again.

Lurie’s original investment of $185 million is now valued at $8.3 billion. The franchise thrives thanks to shrewd drafting, smart salary cap strategy, and his willingness to pay stars early. Central to it all is Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, whom Lurie empowered to become the league’s top roster architect.

The 73-year-old owner has also groomed his son Julian as a potential successor.

The 2025 roster may be the most talented in team history, headlined by Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Lane Johnson, A.J. Brown, and Jalen Carter, supported by depth and youth rarely seen in the salary cap era.

With a roster and a culture built for success and longevity, Jeffrey Lurie’s Eagles are the NFL’s model franchise.
