Recently listed at $8.5 million, a nearly full-floor penthouse in the 10 Rittenhouse residential tower could become Philadelphia’s most expensive condo resale if it sells for the asking price, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The 5,400-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bathroom unit was purchased as raw space in 2010 by Sabrina Tamburino Thorne and Stephen Thorne, the founder of AutoParts Warehouse, for $7.17 million. They enlisted Turner Construction to transform the space that was originally meant to be three units on the 31st floor, into a single, luxurious penthouse.
“It’s pretty special for my whole story of my whole life,” said Tamburino Thorne. “Starting from scratch like that, it was awesome.”
The couple lived there for about a decade before relocating to Bucks County and had been renting the penthouse to a friend for the last five years. With the tenant leaving, they have decided to sell the condo.
The unit features countless amenities and an open-concept floor plan with floor-to-ceiling glass double doors that lead onto a 32-foot-wide balcony that offers 270-degree views of the city.
“It’s an amazing townhouse in the sky,” said Nigel Richards of Compass, who has the listing.
