The husband and wife duo behind Friday Saturday Sunday, the James Beard Award-winning Rittenhouse Square restaurant, has spent years searching for a space to expand.
They have found that space, just next door as their neighbor has decided to sell, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Friday Saturday Sunday is known for its top-notch cocktails and eight-course tasting menu influenced by a medley of Euro techniques along with Caribbean, Southern, and soul food dishes.
Those qualities are what propelled the eatery to being named the 2023 winner of the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Restaurant award.
Now, Hanna and Chad Williams are aiming to use its new space to add an 18-seat chef counter. It will be used as part of a new show kitchen that will serve dishes that could catapult the restaurant onto the radar of the Michelin Guide.
Friday Saturday Sunday currently accommodates about 200 people nightly.
With the expansion, the Williamses expect to see an additional 40 to 50 customers a night.
“Here’s our opportunity to have another space and be able to be in both places at once,” Hanna Williams said
