For cyclists of all experience levels, the United States has a wide range of bike-friendly cities and trails, and a list of the top cycling cities features Philadelphia, writes Sanjana Sharma for Buycycle.
Buycycle, a leading marketplace for pre-owned premium bikes, did an analysis of the most popular cycling cities across the nation and ranked Philadelphia seventh.
The ranking was created through analyzing a number of factors that was then used to create a SPRINT score. The score focused on factors such as safe speeds, protected bike lanes, intersection treatments, network connections, and trusted data.
To further supplement the analysis, Buycycle also examined Google Search Volume data between Nov. 1, 2023, and Oct. 31, 2024.
Philadelphia finished with a 58 SPRINT score and a 1,850 Google search volume during the aforementioned timeframe.
Some of Philly’s highlights that complements its cyclists include the Schuylkill River Trail, various cultural landmarks, and views from Boathouse Row.
According to the ranking analysis, the top cycling city in the nation is Portland, Oregon. Philly also trails five other U.S. cities on the list: New York, San Francisco, Denver, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee.
