After months of renovations, the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center will officially return, writes Justin Heinz for the Patch.
The center returns to its roots at Montgomery County Community College’s Pottstown campus on South Hanover Street.
The interactive museum for young learners will celebrate its grand reopening on June 21. The 7,000-square-foot space has been transformed to better serve the region’s families, with new cabinets for art and science supplies, a fresh HVAC system, and other added facilities
The center isn’t just a place to play—it’s designed to spark curiosity. Kids can explore STEM stations, a farm-to-table room, a LEGO building zone, and even a mini stage for skits and costume fun.
Founder Beth Desch, a former dental hygienist, began this journey nearly a decade ago after taking field trips with her grandchildren. Inspired by what truly connected them to learning, she envisioned a space that mixed imagination with hands-on discovery. With guidance from SCORE, a nonprofit that mentors small businesses, Desch built out her idea into a nonprofit with a clear mission and dedicated board.
The center’s purpose is simple. “We are educating and encouraging the younger kids,” Desch said.
