Despite Ranking Low in Influencer Numbers, Philadelphia Not Without Influence

Philadelphia may lack the volume of content creators seen in some other metro cities, but several local influencers like Brandon Edelman and Saeed Ferguson are holding down the fort and supporting others within the city.

Philadelphia lacks the volume of content creators seen in cities like Los Angeles and New York, however several local influencers are holding down the fort, writes Amara Chimezie for Billy Penn at WHYY.

Brandon Edelman, better known as Bran Flakezz, is a Philadelphia-based influencer with 1.3 million followers who began his content creation career over four years ago. He recently gained a surge in followers following a video that went viral during which he explained how he earns just over three-quarters of a million dollars a year as a Philadelphia influencer.

While he is often asked whether a move to New York could boost his earning potential, Edelman continues to defend Philadelphia.

“For me it’s a quality or quantity thing,” he said. “I would have more opportunities in a city like New York or LA, but I would also have more competition because there’s more influencers there.”

Most of his biggest campaigns have been focused specifically on Philadelphia and his goal is to support local businesses.

Saeed Ferguson is a Philadelphia-based content creator and business owner who supports creatives.

Through his All Caps Studio, he spotlights Philly’s creative talent, helping them benefit financially.

“I’m born and raised here, so I wanted to support the creative scene here,” Ferguson said.
