One of Philly’s Best Cheesesteaks Awaits Players at Citizens Bank Park

Many players have confirmed the rumor that cheesesteaks served in the visiting team clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park is better than ones sold in the stands.

Many visiting players have confirmed the long-standing rumor that the cheesesteak served in the visiting team clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park is better than the one sold in the stands — and even better than any found elsewhere in Philadelphia, writes Tommy Rowan for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

One of those who made this bold proclamation is Hall of Fame pitcher CC Sabathia.

“The visiting clubhouse has the best cheesesteak in Philly,” he said.

The face of the cheesesteak at the clubhouse is 29-year-old Eric Michaels, one of the four attendants who run the kitchen. His coworkers praise him as the best griller of the group.

“I would say I have the same skill set as any dad has on their back patio Blackstone,” he said.

As far as cheesesteaks go, Michaels stands firm in his belief that the roll makes the sandwich. He gets his rolls from Liscio’s Italian Bakery in South Jersey.

Six ounces of a thin slate of flash-frozen sirloin are cooked on the griddle with white onions and a handful of mushrooms. The three ingredients are then mixed and finally topped off with a layer of sliced cheese.
