Human Robot Brewery Coming to New Hope

Popular Philadelphia brewery Human Robot is opening a new location in New Hope, in the space that previously housed Farm to Glass Taproom.

Popular Philadelphia brewery Human Robot is opening a new location in New Hope, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The new bar, Doubles, will take over the former home of Great Barn Brewery’s Farm to Glass Taproom and offer waterfront seating along the Delaware Canal Towpath.

This will make the fifth location for Human Robot, which first opened in 2020 in Kensington.

Human Robot is best known for its extensive lager lineup, that includes Czech, German, Mexican, and Irish styles. It also brews just enough beer to supply its own locations throughout the region, with annual production reaching up to 3,000 barrels.

From the start, the brewery has set itself apart from other craft beer makers by focusing on becoming a neighborhood bar rather than competing for shelf space or draft lines.

“We don’t distribute at all,” said co-founder Jake Atkinson, who owns Human Robot with Chris Roller and Ken Correll. “We’re at a couple restaurants, but none of it’s real volume.”

The model has proven durable, with the brewery continuing to open new locations while others that chase distribution have faded.
