Human Robot Brewing Expanding to South Philadelphia With New Taproom

With three other locations, including 2 in Philadelphia, Human Robot Brewing is soon open its 4th location in the former home of Separatist Beer Project on East Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia.

Human Robot Brewing is soon opening a new taproom in South Philadelphia, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The tasting room will be called Human Robot Súd, and the venue will be the former home of Separatist Beer Project along East Passyunk Avenue, which closed earlier this year.

When it opens, the roughly 2,000-square-foot, ground-floor space will seat about 70 people indoors, and another 12 people outdoors, and feature about 12 different beers on tap.

Human Robot co-founder Jake Atkinson chose South Philly as the location because it’s an area in the city in which the brand is underrepresented.

Physical location is a big catalyst for its brand, as Human Robot does not distribute.

“There’s people in South Philly that don’t even know we exist. We have to physically be there in order for people to know that we exist,” said Atkinson.

Human Robot has been in existence since early 2020, with its first location in West Kensington. In 2022, the brewery expanded into the Jenkintown suburbs.

A third location was opened earlier this year in Center City.

When it opens its newest location in South Philadelphia, Human Robot is expected to focus on its existing footprint of four locations.
