The shop’s owner, Debra Gress Jansen, got into the bookstore business because of her combined love of books, stories, and the community.
Despite the growing popularity of electronic books, she said she has no trouble getting people to visit and buy actual paper books.
“They still love it,” Gress Jansen said. “There’s something about the smell, something about the feel, and you can’t replace that connection ever, with any kind of electronics.”
The Chestnut Hill shop carries a little something for everyone, from the latest releases to classics and beyond.
Meanwhile, it is the cozy, welcoming atmosphere that truly sets booked. apart from big bookstores.
“People come in and they’re able to talk to us,” said Gress Jansen. “We are, I’d say, exceptional at being customer service friendly. When you come in, we want you to feel like you have all the time in the world.”
