Meet the Italian-American Pasta Lover Who Turned His Passion Into a Philly Business

Andy Polhemus, as an Italian-American, has a deep love and passion for pasta. This is why he started Molto Bene! Ravioli Co.

Andy Polhemus has long had a love for pasta, so it felt inevitable that he would turn that love and passion into a business venture, writes Timothy Walton for 6abc.

Polhemus is the founder of Molto Bene! Ravioli Co. Over the years, he has grown the business from a food truck to a vendor at farmer’s markets, to now a brick-and-mortar store on Frankford Avenue in Fishtown. The latter opened in November 2023.

As an Italian-American, pasta has been a part of his life from the beginning. Growing up, he’d often witness his family making pasta by-hand and he learned to do the same.

“Food is everything. That’s how you celebrate, that’s how you make somebody feel better when they’re sick, the way that you show love and spread that to other people,” he said.

Polhemus found his calling in college, working for years at other people’s trucks before starting his own in 2020.

Each item found at his shop is there with goals of making a nice Italian dish.

Polhemus has developed his own recipes for soups, sauces, raviolis, and more. He’s even created his own signature meatballs, which is a popular staple for customers.

Despite the storefront, the truck remain a key cog of the business.
