Father and son duo, Bill and Todd Mecaughey recently celebrated the release of their debut album, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
The musical duo, whose band name is “Plastic Soldiers,” held an album release party on Feb. 1, to celebrate their new album, Borrowed Time.
The album is a culmination of about 7-and-a-half-years of work and pieces together a number of original songs, mostly inspired by their respective loved ones.
Bill highlights “the family element” of the album.
When Todd was growing up in Philadelphia, his father was part of a cover band and he used to wander downstairs to watch them rehearse.
His father saw him as a rock-and-roller by the time he was in kindergarten or first grade.
Evenutally, Bill and Todd decided to form their own band.
Over the years, they continue to find time for each other to rehearse and record songs together until the album eventually came to fruition.
“His talents and mine fused very nicely and I think it strengthened our bond,” said Bill Mecaughey.
Todd added that the duo plans to continue doing this until they no longer can.
Borrowed Time was produced at Cambridge Sound Studios in South Philadelphia, where Todd works, and is currently available to stream.
