Local Artist Creates New Painting That Shows the True Spirit of Philadelphia

A new art piece, created by artist Justin Wadlington, showcases the Philly spirit with three faceless Eagles players embracing each other.

Philadelphia artist Justin Wadlington’s newest masterpiece, called “Philly Green,” is a true representation of what Philadelphia is all about, writes Wakisha Bailey for CBS News Philadelphia.

The new work of art depicts three faceless bodies of Philadelphia Eagles players, all embracing one another.

The faceless component of the players has meaning behind it.

“I didn’t want to add faces because I wanted people to see themselves in a way inside these players,” Wadlington said.

For him, the concept of being an underdog is quite prevalent as a reoccurring theme in his work. The same can often be said about the Eagles.

However, Justin Wadlington finds inspiration in the reality that has showcased itself time and time again. That is that underdogs can also show themselves to be great.

As someone who has been blind in one eye since the age of 5, Wadlington has his own underdog story.

After discovering his talent for art around that same time, he has never let up.

Since then, he was created a number of masterpieces.

“Philly Green” was created to showcase the Eagles, the Philadelphia spirit, and the meaning of Brotherly Love.
