Beyond Books, Havertown’s Janet Mount Has a Puzzle Exchange

Janet Mount is sharing her family's love of puzzles with a puzzle exchange outside her Havertown home.

Little Libraries have grown popular in recent years as a convenient way to share books. Now a Havertown woman is doing the same with puzzles, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

Janet Mount has a puzzle exchange in her front yard.

“We’ve been doing puzzles since we were kids. We always had a puzzle on the table at my grams house. I just continued it here,” Mount said.

She found a box and this month put it by the sidewalk in front of her Allston Road home. It’s filled with a selection of her favorite puzzles, along with a simpler 48-piece set for children.

The location is just a few blocks from Chatham Park Elementary School.

“We have so many little kids walking to school,” she said. “With winter break I thought it would be a good time to pique their interest, picking up a puzzle instead of a phone or their iPad.”

It’s only been two weeks and she’s already seeing some activity.

“The kids are loving it. I hope they take them home and the parents do the puzzles with them and enjoy it … and keep the box full.”
