CNN’s new three-part documentary Kobe: The Making of a Legend will delve deep into Kobe Bryant’s relentless “Black Mamba” mindset, writes Damon C. Williams for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The new film will take an intimate look into what forged his extreme drive and focus that earned him several championships and a spot on the Mount Rushmore of NBA greats.
It traces the story of the legendary player from growing up in Italy to gettng discovered during his high school years at Lower Merion to his athletic superstardom.
“Featuring personal interviews with Kobe’s former coaches, teammates, and family friends, this illuminating series reveals the conflicts and the complications behind the man with the Black Mamba mentality,” said CNN in a press release.
Several of the NBA’s greatest players are featured in the documentary, including NBA All-Star and New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson and NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady. WNBA Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes and former head athletic trainer for the Los Angeles Lakers Gary Vitti are also featured.
The documentary will premiere on CNN on January 25 at 9 p.m., five years after Bryant’s death.
