Less than a year under new ownership, the Le Meridien Philadelphia in Center City is changing its brand to the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
However at this point it is still not clear when the flag change will become official and what adjustments will be made to the hotel – if any – as part of the change.
The 202-room hotel is owned by Certares Management, a New York investment firm, which acquired the property for $32.7 million in January 2024. Philadelphia-headquartered Hersha Hospitality Management is in charge of managing the hotel.
Hersha already lists the property as the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown on its website.
Le Meridien and Courtyard are both flags of Marriott International. While Le Meridien is among Marriott’s Premium brands, Courtyard is part of its more budget-oriented Select category.
There is no other hotel in Center City Philadelphia that currently operates under the Courtyard flag.
In addition to the rooms, the soon-to-be Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown features 9,000 square feet of event space, as well as a 75-foot central atrium courtyard. It was last renovated n 2018.
