Dave, a 28-year-old West Philadelphia man, has opted to rent a billboard in his search to find a date.

A single, 28-year-old West Philadelphia man named Dave is taking things to another level in his search for a date.

In the age of dating apps, Dave has rented a billboard with his picture, Instagram account, his pet cat, and some fun facts for potential dates to see, writes Nick Kariuki for Billy Penn at WHYY.

He did it for a laugh, to make his friends laugh, and to check something off his bucket list.

“I’ve always thought being on the billboard for no reason would always be funny,” Dave said. “I was originally just gonna advertise myself, like, ‘I’m Dave and I exist in West Philly. Hi.’ But I figured going with the dating angle would be probably a little bit more funny, a little more relatable, and just more conducive to sharing stuff about myself.”

His DM’s have since started blowing up.

“So if I get one date out of this then it’s already like eons beyond worth it, beyond just the funny joke I wanted to do to entertain myself and my friends,” Dave said.

The billboard, which is located near the intersection leaving Grays Ferry to get into West Philly, costs $1,136 for a month.
