Mamajuana Café is a lively spot that brings a taste of the Dominican Republic to Fishtown, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29.
The restaurant welcomes you with its huge sliding doors that make the interior feel like it is outside.
“The idea is to not think you’re in Philly,” said Mamajuana Café owner Miguel Guzman. “Think you’re in a tropical area, whether it be the Dominican Republic or the Caribbean, it doesn’t matter. The idea is you go on vacation while you’re here.”
Mamajuana Café offers great food, great cocktails, and great entertainment.
“We’re gonna make sure that celebrations for birthdays or any kind of celebration, this is the place to go,” said Guzman. He highlighted that if it is your birthday, the lights go on, the servers come out and bring out “Happy Birthday” signs, and whatever dessert or shot you want.
“All eyes are on you for that one minute,” he added.
The popular spot also offers a special drink, the Mamajuana Café Juice, made with red wine, honey, cinnamon, and dark rum.
Guzman said that some people say it’s an aphrodisiac.
