Italian steakhouse Fiore Rosso recently changed its look, leadership team, and menu to create a fresh narrative around the distinguished restaurant in Bryn Mawr, writes Ben Silver for the Main Line Today.
After receiving a mixed review in Philadelphia Magazine when it first opened in 2022, the restaurant picked up an unearned reputation that made it seem superior without the chops to back it up.
General manager Gina Alfano and executive chef Marie Lavizzo-Mourey, who both joined the eatery within the last calendar year, are now working on changing that narrative.
Despite the original Picasso still hanging on its wall, the restaurant now has a more down-to-earth service and presentation.
Fiore Rosso is also more focused on a home-cooked style on its menu. The goal is to make guests feel like it is their grandma who is making the dinner by filling it with tradition and many popular flavors. All this is achieved through using high-end ingredients and experienced chefs.
“[We’re] still taking the best ingredients, not dumbing things down, staying true to technique,” said Lavizzo-Mourey, “because when you’re not putting yourself into that, you can taste it through the food.”
