
On Sunday, May 19, the African American Museum in Philadelphia will host a walking tour that allow visitors to step back in time.
With its “The Untold History: A Freedom Seekers’ Perspective” Walking Tour led by 1838 Black Metropolis, visitors can discover the vibrant history of Philadelphia’s Free Black population in 1838, a thriving city-within-a-city crucial to the Underground Railroad.
The tour unveils the latest findings from the 1838 Black Metropolis research project, which sheds light on the Freedom Seeker’s perspective and newly discovered Underground Railroad sites.
It will be like walking through the footsteps of history while exploring the untold stories of famous local conductors and figures like Harriet Jacobs, Reverend Richard Allen, Henrietta Duterte, and several others.
Tickets for the upcoming event are $30, which include free admission to the museum afterward. The tour will take place May 19 from 1 PM to 2:30 PM.

After the tour, guests are encouraged to continue their exploration at the Museum with complimentary admission included.
All in all, the tour and the museum allows everyone to delve into Philadelphia’s rich heritage and uncover one of its many hidden gems.
