The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) has named James D. Schultz, the former Senior Associate Counsel for President Donald Trump, as its new chairman, writes Steve Ulrich for Politics PA.

As chairman, he will lead the 16-member board and oversee operations of the bi-state Delaware River Port Authority and Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO).

“As a Pennsylvanian who grew up in New Jersey, it is an honor to serve as the next Chairman of the Delaware River Port Authority and PATCO,” said Schultz.

He joined the DRPA Board of Commissioners in August 2023 after being appointed by Gov. Josh Shapiro. During the agency’s February Board Meeting, Pennsylvania Commissioner Robert J. Ghormoz nominated him for the chair position, with Pennsylvania Commissioner Gregory G. Schwab supporting the nomination.

Schultz is an experienced attorney, policy advisor, and corporate executive.

He currently serves as Scientific Game’s Executive Vice President of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs.

In addition to serving as Senior Associate Counsel and Special Assistant under President Trump, he also served as General Counsel to Governor Tom Corbett.

Schultz is a graduate of Temple University, and has a Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School.
