German Society of Pennsylvania To Host 11th Annual Philly Bierfest on Feb. 24

The 11th annual Philly Bierfest will take place Saturday, Feb. 24.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, German beer lovers can indulge at the 11th annual Philly Bierfest, writes Molly Given for Metro Philadelphia.

The annual event will feature German-style beers from both local Pennsylvania craft brewers and German imports, as well as educational seminars and live entertainment.

The Philly Bierfest will house a main beer hall, and a German Speakeasy featuring a wide selection of imported German beers. There will also be a “NoLo Import Bar” featuring German zero-proof and low-alcohol beers.

“Locals may not realize that Pennsylvania brewers lead the nation in championing beer styles of German heritage, from refreshing pilsners to malty doppelbocks,” says Victory Brewing Company president Bill Covaleski in a statement. “Bierfest is a perfect showcase for what should be a point of pride for Philadelphia’s beer lovers.”

For those who are looking for a bit more and purchase a VIP Plus package, there is going to be a seminar covering beer pairing. It will be led by cheese author Tenaya Darlington (AKA Madame Fromage).

Other opportunities include an enlightening “PA Women Brewers Panel” and multiple book signings, such as one with Philadelphia-based beer historian Richard Wagner

The event will take place at the German Society of Pennsylvania in Spring Garden.
