Philadelphia-based real estate investment and development firm Pearl Properties has proposed a new vision for the vacant lot on Jewelers Row, writes Jake Blumgart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The vision is for a 35-story apartment tower that would contain 99 rental apartments, with two penthouses at the top of the structure featuring landscaped roof terraces.
It also includes a nearly 1,500-square-foot commercial space and 50 parking spaces on the second to fourth floors.
Pearl Properties president Jim Pearlstein and his team recently met with the Washington Square West Civic Association, and will soon meet with the city’s advisory Civic Design Review Committee to present the proposal.
A meeting with the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment — which needs to approve the project — is anticipated to take place in May or June.
The tower base of the first five floors is meant to align with the surrounding historic structures.
The new proposal is on the site Toll Brothers planned to develop back in 2016.
