Okie Dokie Donuts in South Philadelphia offers delicious gluten-free donuts along with other savory gluten-free snacks for your enjoyment, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
In addition to classic donuts, the popular spot also offers a selection of specialty items.
“The specialty ones are really nice as well,” said one regular customer. “I like the fritters a lot and orange cinnamon. They do a lot of nice seasonal stuff.”
Okie Dokie Donuts currently also offers four holiday cake donuts. The chocolate mint and pandan coconut — a fan favorite — are vegan options. The foursome is completed with a brown sugar gingerbread donut and cranberry pineapple donut.
“My favorite of this bunch is the cranberry pineapple one,” said Carol Ha, owner of Okie Dokie Donuts. “That’s a pineapple cake donut with fresh cranberry and dried pineapple on top.”
Ha got into the donut business for a simple reason.
“I just really love donuts,” she said. “I am really obsessed with them.”
She first wanted to create a good gluten-free donut for her friend’s family, all of whom are allergic to gluten. After a positive reaction, she opened a gluten-free donut shop.
The shop also offers gluten-free savory items, including housemade tater tots.
