After years of bringing a charcuterie board she made to Philadelphia’s Diner en Blanc and getting lots of interest, Robyn Baxter decided to start her own charcuterie business, Jlux Charcuterie, reports Wakisha Bailey for CBS News Philadelphia.
Baxter had been bringing a board to Diner en Blanc for about six years before going out on a whim and launching her entrepreneurial venture.
The charcuterie boards Baxter creates are as beautiful as they are tasty and are a perfect gift for the holiday season. In addition to the standard boards, the business also offers gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free, and pescatarian options.
Jlux Charcuterie was founded three years ago and business “has been going pretty good so far,” said Baxter.
“We’ve had the opportunity to network with several other local Black-owned businesses who have been tremendous in helping us get our foot out there,” she added.
Boards and boxes come in different sizes, from mini-boxes that start at around $20, to a six-foot grazing table that can cost anywhere from $800 to $1,200.
Baxter also offers a workshop class on charcuterie boards. It is a beginner class that introduces attendees and their palates to what charcuterie is: the premium cheeses, the artisan meats, and how to pair them with wine.
