The Nut Hut Saloon in Fishtown is Set to Reopen By End of the Year Under New Operator

The new version of the Nut Hut Saloon renovations cost about $65,000

Before the calendar flips to 2024, Fishtown’s Nut Hut Saloon will be reopening its doors under new operators with eyes toward a more modern neighborhood feel, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The new partner group consists of Ken Landis, Benjamin Albacete, Marc Mattera, and Joseph Danfield.

Initially, the plan was to open an entirely new concept in the space but a visit to the Nut Hut during its last night in operation in early January quickly brought out a change as a long line of people waited to get into the bar up until its 2 AM closing time.

“People wanted to pay their respects, and we realized, ‘Hey, this is a neighborhood establishment. People associate with this place, they feel a tie to it,’” Landis said.

The new bar will feature updates to the existing space and honor its past.

The revitalized restaurant will be able to seat about 46 people across a 16-seat bar, 8 high-top tables, and 12 regular dining tables. It will also feature a menu of upscale bar food and a robust beverage program.

The overarching goal is to maintain the neighborhood while attracting new clientele.

Upgrades to the space cost an estimated $65,000.
