WSJ: University of Pennsylvania Ranked 5th Best Ivy League School in the Nation

The founders of Spruce House met while students at the University of Pennsylvania.

Among the top 10 schools in the nation, Ivy League universities take up half the spots, writes Gerard Yates for The Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking is now out and has ranked Princeton University as the top college in the United States.

It’s no surprise that an Ivy League university took the top spot in the ranking, as two others — Yale University and Columbia University — made the top five, ranking third and fifth, respectively.

Harvard University and The University of Pennsylvania were ranked the fourth and fifth-best Ivy League schools, and sixth and seventh overall, respectively.

Dartmouth College and Cornell University ranked 21st and 24th overall, while Brown University ranked 67th.

The WSJ/College Pulse ranking is calculated using three metrics: student outcomes, including measures of graduation rates and salaries; the learning environment, which includes students’ evaluations of their school’s learning opportunities and how well it prepares them for their career, and the diversity of a school’s students and faculty.

The three metrics account for 70%, 20%, and 10%, respectively.

In addition to its seventh overall ranking, Penn ranked the highest of all U.S. colleges for its impact on graduates’ salaries.
