Chubb’s new 348,000-square-foot tower at 2000 Arch Street represents more than just a new headquarters, but rather offers a glimpse into the future of Philadelphia’s office market and Center City development, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The 18-story, LEED Platinum-certified tower is part of a roughly $380 million investment that will bring nearly 3,000 employees into the heart of the city.
The company is branding the building as intentionally designed as a “destination workplace,” featuring modern amenities, collaborative spaces, natural light, and upgraded technology meant to attract workers back into the office in the hybrid-work era.
“We’ve designed the space for the way people want to work today,” said Chubb Executive Vice President Juan Luis Ortega. “Open, collaborative, connected. When our people come through these doors, they come together in one place. One culture. One community.”
Besides the fact that it represents a commitment to Philadelphia, the tower is especially significant because it is one of the few major office developments completed in Philadelphia since the pandemic, at a time when many downtown office markets are struggling with vacancies and changing work patterns.
