2026 PGA Championship Bringing Economic Boost to Delaware County

With the 2026 PGA Championship, businesses around Newtown Square will be seeing an influx of customers and a boost to the local economy.

Businesses around Delaware County have been preparing for the 2026 PGA Championship in Newtown Square at Aronimink Golf Club, and the tourism expected to come with it, writes Joe Holden for CBS News Philadelphia

This week, Newtown Square will be providing a significant boost to the county’s economy thanks to the 200,000 additional individuals expected to be in the area.

It’s no surprise then that local businesses are taking advantage of the high traffic, increasing hours, improving advertising efforts, and boosting their visibility.

Nicholas Sebastian Salon & Spa employees are cramming in appointments as they prepare to close from Wednesday to Saturday. Owner Nick Scamuffa is giving his staff a break and taking the opportunity to use his spacious parking lot for the tournament, letting visitors make reservations for a spot.

Finley Catering in the Ivy at Ellis Preserve is just as busy half a mile away, gearing up for an onslaught of events. Along with the anticipated traffic, owner Tom Finley noted that there was high demand for hotel rooms.

“We were able to lock down a lot of hotel rooms prior to PGA grabbing them up to take care of our guests coming in from out of town,” said Finley. “We locked down 180 rooms prior.”

Employees at Ellis Preserve said this week will likely be the equivalent of the Jersey Shore during the Fourth of July.
