The Markham Team, led by the former CEO of Primanti Bros., Adam Golomb, acquired eight Smoothie King locations in the Greater Philadelphia area, including one in Langhorne, writes Jake Dabkowski and Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
According to Golomb, the 10-unit deal took place over a week ago, with the Markham Team purchasing the locations from HMT Management.
In addition to the location at 2424 E. Lincoln Highway in Langhorne, the purchase included storefronts in Philadelphia and New Jersey, as well as two in York and Whitehall.
The Smoothie King brand has been steadily growing in the Philadelphia region, having outlined goals in 2023 to open between 40 and 50 locations through 2028.
Golomb discussed his interest in acquiring a group of retailers or restaurants in the Pittsburgh Business Times.
“I really kept going back to restaurants and spent probably six months looking at probably over 100 opportunities in the mid-Atlantic region that were all multi-unit and we were lucky to come upon this opportunity with Smoothie King,” Golomb said.
Employees at the newly purchased Smoothie King locations will be retrained to further improve customer service, and more staff will be hired where necessary. Customers can also expect new additions to the menu throughout the year.
