Daughter of Former MLB Catcher Ranks as No. 1 Lacrosse Player in the Country

Riley Davis, daughter of Malvern Prep alum Ben Davis, is carrying on her family’s athletic legacy as the nation's top lacrosse player.

Riley Davis, daughter of Malvern Prep alum and baseball star Ben Davis, is carrying on her family’s tradition of athletic stardom as the no. 1 lacrosse player in the country, writes Joseph Santoliquito for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Major outlets named Davis, currently a junior at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, as the nation’s top lacrosse player for the class of 2027. She’s scored 50 goals with 6 assists this year, for a career total of 210 goals with 60 assists.

Davis hails from an athletic family. Both of her parents led impressive sports careers, with her mother Megan Davis, having played both soccer and lacrosse at Rutgers, and her father, Ben Davis, having ranked as the no. 2 overall pick out of Malvern Prep in the 1995 MLB draft.

After Malvern Prep, Ben went on to lead a remarkable professional baseball career, playing for San Diego, Seattle, and Chicago before his current role as a Phillies commentator.

As for Davis, she continues her family’s legacy alongside her sister Finley, a current senior at Notre Dame.

The family currently lives in West Chester as the sisters train together and push each other to excellence. For Riley, this means making history as the first no. 1 national recruit to commit to Penn State, where she will continue her lacrosse career next fall.

Read more about Riley Davis and the lacrosse star’s local connections in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
