Main Line Health to Close Women’s Wellness Center in King of Prussia

Main Line Health will close its King of Prussia women’s wellness center, impacting patients amid staffing shortages and rising demand.

A specialized behavioral health program serving Montgomery County residents is set to close its doors, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Main Line Health announced it will shut down its Women’s Emotional Wellness Center, including its King of Prussia location, on June 8. The health network cites staffing challenges and financial pressures.

The center has provided therapy, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management for women, with roughly 1,000 patients expected to be impacted by the closure. About two dozen employees will also be affected, though the health system said some may transition into other roles internally.

Main Line Health pointed to broader industry challenges, including growing demand for behavioral health services and ongoing workforce shortages, as key factors behind the decision. Officials said they will work with patients to connect them with alternative care options either within the system or through outside providers.

The King of Prussia closure reflects a wider trend impacting healthcare access across the region, particularly for specialized services. In recent years, rising costs and staffing constraints have forced providers to reevaluate certain programs, even as patient needs continue to grow.

Main Line Health emphasized it remains committed to behavioral health, noting its broader network of inpatient and outpatient services across the region.
