A new analysis that looked at over 12,000 ZIP codes nationwide found that the Philadelphia area is home to some of the most educated communities in the United States.
A Philadelphia ZIP code ranked second in the region, writes Joanne Drilling and Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The 19102 ZIP code in Center City, which covers Broad Street’s west side from Callowhill to Pine streets, is it. About 87 percent of residents in the area have at least a bachelor’s degree. The income per capita there is also nearly $117,000, the highest in the region.
This ZIP code ranked No. 30 nationally.
The Center City ZIP code trails only Villanova locally, which is first in the region and second in the entire tri-state area. Short Hills in Essex County, North Jersey is the most educated area in the region.
The rankings were determined by the percentage of residents with at least a bachelor’s degree. The ZIP codes considered each had to have a minimum of 5,000 residents and at least $25,000 in income per capita.
Three other Philadelphia ZIP codes made the top 10, while seven total Philly ZIP codes finished in the top 25 in the region.
