Meet the Mother-Daughter Tandem Hyping Up Philly As Part of Phambassadors Initiative

Mother-daughter duo Kathy and Kaitlin Nasevich are two of the more than 8,000 Phambassadors citywide, sharing what makes Philly so great ahead of some major events in 2026.

In the lead up to a huge 2026, Philadelphia launched its Phambassadors initiative to gather up local volunteers whose job is to share the city’s story.

“The baseline criteria is you just gotta love Philadelphia,” Phambassadors program director Jacleen Mowery said. “We have you sign the pledge on our website, which is just a very tongue-in-cheek way of pledging your undying love to the city of Philadelphia.”

One mother-daughter duo fills that criteria to a tee, writes Nikki DeMentri for CBS News Philadelphia.

Kathy Nasevich and her daughter, Kaitlin, have been putting their best foot forward to show everyone how great of a city Philadelphia is.

Becoming Phambassadors have allowed the two of them to find new ways to share their love for the city, from helping out at events to sharing Philly firsts and providing recommendations on the best places to visit throughout the city.

“It’s just like your family, everyone’s family, and we’ve met so many really nice people and been to so many great events,” Nasevich said.

So far, the city has been able to sign up 8,000 volunteers for the Phambassadors program. The goal is to reach at least 10,000 before the year’s biggest events.
