The Tasties, a New Philly Culinary Awards Ceremony for Local Restaurant Community, Returns Feb. 1

The Tasties launched in 2025 with the goal of “uplifting and supporting the restaurant community and giving them a night to celebrate.”

The Tasties, the creation of a group of Philadelphia podcasters that celebrates the individuals that make Philadelphia’s food scene what it is, is set to return in February, writes Shaunice Ajiwe for Philadelphia Magazine.

The award ceremony was launched by chef Eli Kulp and his fellow Delicious City Podcast co-hosts Marisa Magnatta and Dave Wez last year.

Back in 2023, Kulp attended a holiday party where awards were handed out to some of the culinary professionals in attendance. This, coupled with other food awards in major U.S. cities, inspired him to bring that same concept here to Philadelphia.

This particular awards could serve a purpose that can’t necessarily be served with the national level awards like the James Beard and Michelin, or other honors presented by local media.

“We wanted to do something that’s for the chef and restaurant community,” Kulp said. “I knew that this was going to be solely uplifting and supporting the restaurant community and giving them a night to celebrate.”

The first Tasties awards took place last year, where Kulp said all expectations were exceeded.

This year’s Tasties awards will take place Sunday, February 1 at Live Casino.

With giving a key part of the cause, proceeds for this year’s festivities will go to Philabundance.
