Tanner Rose will be sworn in as Delaware County’s new district attorney on Jan. 5. He replaces predecessor Jack Stollsteimer, who won a county judgeship in November.
The 42-year-old has worked as Stollsteimer’s assistant since 2020. He will finish out the final two years of Stollsteimer’s term, writes Vinny Vella for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
In a recent interview, Rouse talked about the work already accomplished in the district attorney’s office, including the reduction of violent crime, and about how he plans to continue those efforts.
He lists the reduction of violent crime in Chester City as his proudest achievement while first assistant.
He also pointed to the DA’s office’s logical and humane prosecutions as the reason for a 50 percent reduction in the county’s jail population. The office has also created a diversionary unit, revamped its drug court, and created a special “child’s court.”
Looking ahead, Rouse hopes to create a community outreach program in Upper Darby similar to what is set up in Chester.
He would also like to create reciprocity agreements with other collar counties around Philadelphia, especially for drug cases and treatment programs for drug offenders.
