Each week during the NFL season, Philadelphia Eagles fan Robert Williams Jr. recaps the games by writing a parody of a popular song, writes Xavier Martinez for The Wall Street Journal.
Growing up in Trenton, New Jersey, Williams often listened to famed parody songwriter “Weird Al” Yankovic, sang at church with his mother, and rooted for the Eagles.
While he followed his father’s footsteps in joining the military, Williams’ creativity never left him.
Over the years, he learned how to use a camera and edit clips. He used those skills to make funny videos for his family, take photos for his children, and also partake in wedding photography.
In 2021, Williams began experimenting with TikTok. Upon doing so, his skits and videos started gaining more and more traction.
His first parody song was inspired by a 2022 Dallas Cowboys playoff loss.
Fast forward to now and Williams has made about 40 parodies, gaining around 260,000 followers in the process.
“It blows my mind every day,” Williams said of his fame.
After the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX win, he wrote a song titled, “Blown Out,” a parody of Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song). It garnered more than 43 million views.
