Wilmington Fliers Gain Two New Avelo Airlines Nonstop Destinations

Local travelers are gaining two new options with Avelo Airlines adding two nonstop services from Wilmington to Atlanta and Chicago.

Local travelers are gaining two new options with Avelo Airlines, which will be adding nonstop services from Wilmington to Atlanta and Chicago early next year, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The new route from Wilmington Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will begin service on Feb. 12, while the flight to Chicago O’Hare International Airport will debut on March 12.

The discount carrier will operate five weekly flights to Atlanta on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and four weekly flights to Chicago on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. One-way fares currently start at $34.

“Adding an affordable way to get to the Windy City and to ATL this spring, inspires more travel as we gear up for spring break, more vacations, and connecting with friends and family,” said Avelo founder and CEO Andrew Levy

He added that the new routes show there is a strong and continued demand in Greater Philadelphia for low-cost and reliable flights.

These latest additions bring the number of Avelo nonstop destinations from Wilmington to 16. Outside of Chicago, most flights are to cities in the Southeastern United States and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
