The former king of toy retail, Toys “R” Us, is making a nostalgic comeback, landing in the King of Prussia Mall, writes Zoe Greenberg for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
After filing for bankruptcy in 2017 and shuttering nearly 800 stores nationwide, the beloved brand is re-emerging with more than two dozen new flagship and seasonal pop-up stores across the U.S. this year. Among them are two Philadelphia-area locations: one in South Jersey’s Deptford Mall and one at King of Prussia Mall.
The new holiday shop is opening in partnership with Go! Retail Group, offering shelves of favorites like LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Paw Patrol, a welcome return for parents who grew up as “Toys ‘R’ Us kids.” The chain’s revival follows a series of smaller in-store sections inside Macy’s and marks what parent company WHP Global calls a “significant milestone” in the brand’s growth.
For Montgomery County families, the King of Prussia pop-up brings back a touch of retail magic just in time for the holiday shopping season.
