Springfield Hospital to Remain a Hospital, Prospective Owner Says

Restorative Health Foundation Inc., the prospective owners of Springfield Hospital, say they want to keep the property as a hospital.

The prospective owner of the Springfield Hospital property said future plans call for the hospital to remain a hospital, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

Restorative Health Foundation Inc., the high bidder for the property in a bankruptcy auction, “plans to reopen the hospital and have it mirror the same services that it had but partner with a major entity,”  according to Aminah Shabazz Perez, representing Felicia Wilson, director of the nonprofit Restorative Health Foundation Inc.

“I’m meeting with all these health systems to see who would be the best fit,” said Perez, who has already met with ChristianaCare and Penn Medicine. “I want to bring back something phenomenal.”

Wilson is principal of Restorative Health Foundation Inc., and also owns Amina Hospital Group, including Avana and Amina, as well as several Philadelphia restaurants.

There is no set date to reopen the hospital. The sale must still be approved by the bankruptcy judge. A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4.

No agreements have been reached yet regarding outstanding taxes on the property owed Springfield Township, Springfield School District, and Delaware County. The taxing authorities are waiting for more information about the prospective owner and their plans..
