While Comcast advances its restructuring plans that are impacting most regions, the company is strengthening its commitment to its Philadelphia headquarters, writes Sarah Huffman for Technical.ly.
Last month, the company announced its plans to dismantle its division structure, which currently divides its connectivity and platform unit into three regional sections.
Offices outside the headquarters will now report to the newly established president of regional operations, a position that will be filled by Amy Lynch, current president of the northeast division.
“In addition to Philadelphia being the corporate HQ, this area is part of one of the regions that will continue to operate once the division structure is retired,” said Jen Gatta, associate VP of corporate communication for Comcast.
The telecommunications giant’s central division and west division will shut down in 2026.
Responsibilities of the division teams will transfer to employees at the company’s corporate headquarters.
“With this change, our HQ teams will design strategy, while our field teams will execute,” stated the memo Comcast sent out in September. “This model will enable faster decision-making, better use of data and technology, and stronger execution in a highly competitive environment.”
Comcast’s connectivity and platform unit houses Xfinity, Comcast Business, and Sky.
