Rosemary Connors made a name for herself in Philadelphia as a journalist, spending 15 years as an anchor at NBC10.
Last year, she parted ways with NBC10 and has since transitioned into the construction sector, writes Noah Zucker for BisNow.
Connors recently created Rosette Specialty Trades, a new scaffolding company, carrying on her mother-in-law’s legacy in commercial real estate.
She recently participated in a Women Leading Real Estate event, where she discussed her transition from journalism to construction.
“I recognize I’m in a unique position in that my mother-in-law really paved the way,” Connors said.
It’s that level of mentorship and leaning on relationships that she credits for helping her make this career change.
Connors came up with the idea to launch Rosette Specialty Trades after her long-time “unpaid consultant” work at D.J. Cross, the chimney restoration company her mother-in-law Jayne Cross founded in 1981.
Connors’ husband Benjamin Cross has since purchased the business with his brother.
Interested in scaffolding, she decided to connect with her mother-in-law and some other connections and the rest is history.
She gained valuable insight and expertise along the way, and started her own business.
