Concentrating on youth education, workforce development, and the preservation of Black community histories, the nonprofit serves Montgomery County, Maryland, and surrounding areas.

The nonprofit plans on providing academic enrichment, training, credentialing, and grantmaking support to nonprofits in the region addressing similar challenges.

Chief Advancement Officer Paul Tukey said the organization has been fundraising and establishing its base since the start of the year. To date, it has raised upwards of $1.5 million.

Wingard was hired to lead Temple in 2021 and resigned as president of Greater Philadelphia’s largest university in March 2023.

Prior to serving as Temple’s first Black president, he was vice dean of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and dean emeritus of Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies.

Wingard, who relocated to Potomac in 2024, is also chairman of the Potomac Community Foundation
