A Philly Lawyer is Helping LGBTQ+ Couples Protect Their Marriages

Philadelphia lawyer Angela Giampolo, founder of Giampolo Law Group, helps support LGBTQ+ couples through estate planning.

Angela Giampolo, founder and principal attorney at Giampolo Law Group, is helping LGBTQ+ couples protect their marriages under potential concerns regarding the current administration and U.S. Supreme Court, writes Fallon Roth for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Giampolo specializes in estate planning for LGBTQ+ couples in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Estate planning helps couples stay legally bound regardless of any legislation that may get introduced or passed at the national level.

“Most estate planning attorneys only care about death and disability, right? The majority of my documents are actually about living. My documents are [about] how a marginalized community, how the LGBTQ community, goes about living more seamlessly in this country,” Giampolo said.

While she has helped countless LGBTQ+ couples over the last 17 years, she highlighted that clients are especially concerned given the current climate under this current administration.

However, she hopes her firm’s services can help provide a sense of preparation and relief under these circumstances.

The day after the 2024 election, Giampolo posted a blog on her website that qualified estate planning as the number one thing LGBTQ+ couples should be.

In addition to providing them with power and marital privileges, the documents also offer protections during international travel to countries that may not accept marriage equality.
