Medium Rare, Steak Frites Restaurant Chain, to Make Philadelphia Debut in Fishtown

Medium Rare will be opening its first Philadelphia location in Fishtown on August 8, which will be its ninth overall location.

Medium Rare, the Washington D.C.-based steak frites restaurant, is opening its ninth location when it officially debuts in Philadelphia on Friday, August 8, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The new location will be located at 1540 Frankford Avenue in Fishtown.

Medium Rare is run by business partners and co-owners Mark Bucher and Tom Gregg, who founded the restaurant chain in 2011.

Since opening its first location in D.C., it has opened seven other locations in New York, Maryland, Boston, Virginia, and Texas, respectively.

Medium Rare is known for its popular secret sauce, which has seen a lot of finetuning and refining over the years.

“We knew we had to have a sauce with ‘come back’ quality and we do. We go through insane lengths to keep it a secret,” said Philadelphia native Bucher in a statement.

The restaurant chain’s new Fishtown location will feature a single-choice, prix fixe dinner menu, along with French-inspired decor.

The meal is price at $23.95 per person, and includes Medium Rare’s award-winning culoette steak. The steak is typically covered in its secret sauce, and comes with a salad, fries, and bread.

There will also be vegetarian options, along with desserts.
