Haverford resident and retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is often mentioned as a likely Hall of Famer, but if you ask him, the money is on Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson as the player who belongs in the Hall of Fame first.
Kelce spoke about the issue on the “Exciting Mics” podcast, joined by Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship, writes Ariel Simpson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
He talked about the special qualities of the first Eagles Super Bowl team and gave some advice as the Eagles prepare to go into a post-Super Bowl win season.
“You’re getting more attention on everything that you’ve been doing,” Kelce said of the current team. It’s going to feel different. You’re going to get every team’s best shot. But, I mean, listen, what else do you want?”
Kelce is a Super Bowl champion, a six-time first-team All-Pro, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and a future Hall of Famer.
It’s weird, he said.
“And I think it’s weird because I don’t even think I’m the best player that I’ve played with in the NFL. Even on the offensive line, Jason Peters, Lane Johnson, Brandon Brooks. They’re all better players than I ever was.”
